Always buying sneakers? It's the sign of a leader: poll

Got a passion for buying sneakers? It could be a good sign, with a poll finding that people who buy three pairs of sneakers or more a year are far more likely to be a leadership type that other people.

Mindset Media, a media company that examines personality traits of different consumers, found that people who buy more than three pairs of sneakers a year are 61 percent more likely to have the qualities of a modern leader.

These qualities were defined as having ideas and vision, and a style with others that is both inclusive and decisive.

The survey of 7,500 people, using market research group Nielsen's online panel, found multi-sneaker buyers were 50 percent more likely to be very assertive and 47 percent more likely to be spontaneous.

Lauren Arvonio, a spokeswoman for Mindset Media, said sneaker buyers were more likely to fly by the seat of their pants.

"It is often said you can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear, and now we have some hard data to back that up," Arvonio told Reuters.

"What is interesting is that these personality traits held true across the board, regardless of age, income, or gender."

Previous Mindset Media surveys found that people who pay their credit card bills off each month were more likely to be "highly deliberate," thinking through their actions, but also less modest than others, likely to brag about their habits.

Hybrid car owners were found to be 78 percent more likely to be highly creative than other people and less dogmatic.

Thanks To A Woman

Anyone who has ever spent any extended amount of time with me has probably heard me say, “Women these days, you can’t live with them but, you just can’t live without them.” I can’t take credit for this statement because it has been said and understood by so many men. I can’t even begin to imagine who said it first; it is quite possible that Adam was the first man to say it concerning Eve.

There has been a woman in my life have however, that for the most part, has been the exception to the statement, “you can’t live with them.”

There is a reason why people in general frown upon the ever so common “your mother” jokes. Our mothers leave such lasting impact on our lives. In an ever changing society the rule of woman is continually being redefined, I fear that the most important aspects of being a woman are being overlooked.

My mother, Meredith Parente, chose to be a homemaker, an occupation that I feel is one of thee most honorable occupations ever. She is a very talented lady, in many different areas but, she has sought her fulfillment and joy in the workplace of choosing, her home.

With the freedom that being a homemaker entails, she was and is able to invest her time into her family, her home, her church, and her community.

She and my father have been married for more then twenty-five years; she has raised five of her own children, helped and helping with her many grandchildren and been available to help many other families. She has and runs a household successfully and has a beautiful home. She is heavily involved with her church, through being the musical director, and being involved in many other aspects of her church. She has been on boards of political and community organizations, she is always involved in current movements concerning the future of our community, city, state, country, and world that we live in.

If this isn’t a woman living to her full potential, I have never seen that in human form. Is she the president of a large corporation? Is she a high profile criminal attorney? No, but I am going to argue that she has just as much of an impact, if not more, on the people she interacts with.

As a homemaker my mother has proven that, a woman can be a successful, independent, individual, as well as achieve one of the most rewarding goals, being a good wife, mother, grandmother.

“You can’t live with them but, you just can’t live without them,” is a phrase that I will probably continue to state but, after true and honest analysis I can only conclude that I am truly thankful for ladies in my life and I cannot imagine trying to live without them.
